The European Semester, is a yearly process which coordinates, monitors, and assesses the economic, social, environmental, and other policies of EU Member States. It gives advice to help put EU policies and strategies like, among others, the European Pillar of Social Rights and its Action Plan, as well as targets for education, employment and poverty reduction, into action. The active engagement of civil society organizations in policy development, implementation, and evaluation is essential to ensure that policies are grounded in evidence and aligned with the realities on the ground. Unfortunately, civil society organizations face challenges related to their understanding of and ability to participate effectively in this process.
This session aims to explicit the objectives, phases and the timeline of the European Semester process as well as present opportunities for civil society organisations to be better involved in the policy making process at the EU and local/national levels.
The session will be given in English.
